Thanks for checking out RizCo!
My name is John Risdon. Many people just call me Riz, you can too.
Throughout my youth my family had numerous dogs with wildly ranging personalities. We lived in an apartment above a busy dog groomer and saw our share of varied breeds every single day. I also swept the floors and helped clean a little bit too.

As I grew into adulthood and wondered how I could best serve this world, I felt passionate that furthering the human-canine connection was right for me.

Therefore, my primary drive is to broaden the human-canine relationship and contribute to a best life lived for both.
What is RizCo?
In short, its my owner-operated limited liability company that I launched in Spring of 2022.

In practice, I aim for my business to be educated dog engagement and relationship building. I can help with General Canine Engagement and Companion Training, Behavioral Deficiencies, Puppy Planning, Separation Anxiety, and Canine Environment Management.
In meaning, RizCo is the vessel I use to interact with the Human-Canine relationship as a means for a happy and successful livelihood.
This is an evolving business. I plan to explore various models of services, but for now all offerings located on the Services Page detail what is currently available.

Personally though, the name itself is a reference to my last name, but it has deeper meaning as it relates to a lost relative I cared for and their former small business, in that sense its a bit of a tribute and intended to be a lucky charm. What RizCo is truly is to me though? Its staking a claim. Its a true investment in myself for the first time. It's the dream of owning a business coming to life. It's fulfilling a series of internal goals and commitments. Because for me a best life lived was always going to have dogs along for the ride.
How I Operate, What I Value
First and foremost, equality and respect. For you, for the dogs, and for me.
Honesty and transparency.
The best approach towards any kind of relationship -let alone for us and our dogs- is being clear with needs and expectations.
I specialize in companion dogs.
I don't breed, judge, or formally train athletic, working, or service dogs.
I am not a veterinarian.
I help with the domestic connection.
I practice a positive and humane approach to dog handling recognized by ASPCA and Humane Society.
Some dogs may require aspects of Traditional Training Methods.
I am committed to applying those methods responsibly and without harm with modern sensibility.
Use of aversive dog equipment is not compatible for this style of training.
I install skills and behavior from a functional perspective rather than performative.
Credential
Aside from life-long ownership and assistance with both special needs and "standard" dogs.
